A whole host of celebrities, including Oscar-winner Olivia Colman, Game of Thrones star Lena Headey and Bastille’s Dan Smith, have banded together to raise money for Afghan refugees.
Supporting the Choose Love charity, an impressive line-up of actors, writers, influencers and musicians have joined personalised video platform Cameo, and are donating 100% of their videos’ profits during the campaign, with more stars expected to join the roster.
All are offering fans the chance to receive personalised video messages from themselves in support of Choose Love.
Choose Love is a charity which supports projects providing vital aid and services to Afghan people who have fled the country, including clothes, shelter, support for children and groups protecting women and children’s rights.
Alongside The Crown star Olivia, Lena and Dan, other celebrities involved in the first wave of the campaign are The Last Kingdom actor Toby Regbo, The Witcher star MyAnna Buring, Coronation Street’s Georgia Taylor, The Vamps singer James McVey, actor and fellow Game of Thrones alum Wilf Scolding, comedian Deborah Frances-White, writer Dawn O’Porter, influencer and podcaster Natalie Lee, bestselling author Dolly Alderton and magazine editor and influencer Jo Elvin.
Prices vary from £7.50 to £375 per video message depending on the star selected.
In typically British and endearing Olivia Colman style, Olivia left a quick video message on Cameo introducing her reason for joining the platform, and letting fans know that just 25 video messages are available from her.
She said: ‘Hi! I’m Olivia Colman and I’m going to do 25 of these videos to your loved ones, friends, whatever you like, for Choose Love, and all of the funds raised will be going to help people fleeing the Taliban.
‘You can give more than the stated amount if you want to… Hooray!’
Musician Dan Smith modestly introduced himself as ‘Dan from a band called Bastille’ as he praised Choose Love as ‘an incredible organisation’.
Explaining his perimeters, he said: ‘So, you’ve got me for 48 hours. If anybody out there wants a message or whatever, just let me know, and let’s see how much money we can raise!’
Dan is also personally matching his individual Cameo earnings for 48 hours and donating those proceeds to Choose Love as well, with the charity sating that within 12 hours of listing, the front man has already garnered hundreds of orders.
Cersei Lannister actress Lena kept her intro short and cheeky as she declared: ‘Can’t wait to fulfil your greeting fantasies.’
The majority of these stars are only on the platform for 48 hours or a limited number of videos, so move quickly if you want to nab a special video message from them!
