Love Island USA premiered on CBS in 2019 and the first batch of contestants jumped in headfirst to try and find lasting love.
Fans are keen to know how successful has the show been when it comes to the contestants from season one and, sadly, none of the couples are still together.
Elizabeth Weber and Zac Mirabelli were crowned as the winners when things came to an end but the relationship didn’t last outside of the villa.
When the show ended, we had a whole heap of couples leaving the villa together but it looks like the most lasting relationships were the friendships.
So what happened to the couples from Love Island season one? We break it down.
Zac Mirabelli and Elizabeth Weber
Relationship status: Split
Zac and Elizabeth paired up from day one, became boyfriend and girlfriend on day 12, and managed to remain a couple all the way to victory.
However, they split up after a few months in the real world and ended up breaking up in December 2019.
Elizabeth told fans: ‘Unfortunately Zac and I have decided to go our separate ways…Although I had wished things could’ve turned out differently life doesn’t always work out the way we could’ve hoped sometimes.’
Zac also said in a statement: ‘The breakup was mutual and we have left on amicable terms. We simply wanted different things.’
Dylan Curry and Alexandra Stewart
Relationship status: Split
Alexandra and Dylan hit it off when he entered the villa on day four and chose her for his first date.
After becoming boyfriend and girlfriend on day 28, the couple came in second in the season finale.
However, they broke up by November 2019, with Dylan explaining: ‘Alex and I are no longer together. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out.’
Alexandra telling Bustle that the fact she broke her jaw soon after the show was over did little to help the romance: ‘He was amazing with me when I broke my jaw, [but] that kind of takes a huge toll on people, especially when you have like, a new relationship, it’s just not something normal.’
Raymond ‘Ray’ Gantt and Caro Viehweg
Relationship status: Split
Caro and Ray also clicked straightaway after he entered the villa on day 15, and they became an official couple during their final date.
After coming in third place, the duo managed to have the longest relationship of the season.
They ultimately broke up around July 2002 and Caro stated on YouTube that she ‘just didn’t felt like he was committed to the relationship like I was. So that’s why I decided to break up with him.’
Weston Richey and Emily Salch
Relationship status: Split
Emily was the last female Islander to enter the villa on day 21, and she chose to couple up with Weston days later.
The pair came in fourth and had a rocky romance outside of the villa. By Valentine’s Day 2020, Emily confirmed she would be spending the day alone.
She addressed the split on May 14 and explained: ‘Weston and I are no longer together. We are literally not right for each other…we’re just at different points in our life.’
Love Island USA airs on CBS in the States, and is available on ITV Hub in the UK.
