Friday night’s episode of I’m A Celebrity saw the campmates take on their first live trial and Sir Mo Farah face a whole load of fish guts.

The Olympic gold medallist was the latest star chosen to tackle a trial and secure those stars for camps, after viewers finally decided to give poor Jordan North the night off.

They were rewarded by getting not one, but two trials in one episode, as the episode finished with the campmates splitting into two and going head-to-head in the first live trial of the series.

That was after plenty of stories were shared between our celebrities around the campfire, so here’s everything you need to know from last night’s show.

Beverley once trained with Arnold Schwarzenegger

Things kicked off with Beverley Callard making a surprising revelation that she once trained with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

She had been giving Hollie a massage on her leg and impressed the Paralympian as she revealed she’s previously complete a sports massage course. Beverley told her that Schwarzenegger took 18-months to build up the muscle in his calves by half an inch and that she’s previously worked out with him.

‘Nothing surprises me with Beverley, she trained with Arnold Schwarzengger,’ Hollie said in the Telegraph, before then talking about her own sporting achievements with the rest of the gang.

Shane was left pretty impressed and revealed (yep, you guessed it) he’d won sexiest soap male three years running, while Russell revealed he was named ‘Rear of the Year’ in 2009.

Russell Watson on I'm A Celebrity

Conversation soon turned to Russell, who revealed the best place he’s ever performed was for the Pope at the Vatican, and his brain tumour diagnosis.

The star was diagnosed with two brain tumours and was forced to undergo surgery. Russell said: ‘The second one was the “one”, the first wasn’t life threatening, it was painful and I nearly lost my vision, but the second one was, holy s***, I went home, went to bed and didn’t wake up because of a haemorrhage.’

Russell explained: ‘My assistant found me, called the paramedics and I knew I was in trouble because the paramedic kept saying, “stay with us, stay with us”. We got to the hospital and they operated. One of the most emotional things after I came out of intensive care was this bloke came up to me and said, “nice to see you’re doing well Mr Watson,” and I realised it was “stay with us, stay with us.”‘

Mo and Victoria take on the Castle Coin Challenge

The latest Castle Coin Challenge saw Mo and Victoria dressed up as Robins, with poor immediately tripping over in his costume.

Using their beaks, they had to find and pick up hidden worms and fit them into a bird’s nest. Eventually completing the challenge, Mo and Victoria headed over to Kiosk Cledwyn to hand over their coins and see what treats were on offer.

It was a touch choice between jelly worms or mixed nuts, with the pair picking jelly worm sweets – only to have Kiosk Cledwyn close up shop as the celebrities failed to get the correct answer when asked what percentage of British adults are reluctant to tell people their age: 22% or 10%? It was 10%.

Back at camp, Ruthie was seen touching on her past romance with Prince Edward and she recalled having dinner at Windsor Castle with the Queen and one drunken night at Balmoral, where she’d had one too many martinis.

She revealed Prince Charles had given her first martini and after two cocktails she was feeling pretty tipsy, so couldn’t resist when Princess Margaret asked her to sing them all a song. Them including the Queen, the Queen Mother, Princess Diana, Prince Charles and Prince Edward.

‘I don’t remember an awful lot because Charles gave me my first martini. I’d never tried it before, so I was fairly… I had two of them and I was like, “woah,”‘ she told Shane.

‘I sang I Dreamed A Dream and I must have changed key three times because I was so pissed on martinis.’

Mo was feeling pretty nervous ahead of his trial and admitted that the fear of not knowing what he was up against was the hardest thing for him to deal with.

‘I think he’s a little scared and I don’t blame him because it’s the fear of the unknown,’ Victoria said, while Mo confessed: ‘I don’t want to be that person and let the team down and I can’t feed them.’

Ant and Dec explained that Mo’s challenge was to retrieve the star that were locked in different hell holes, by getting the keys that were chained up in holes on the opposite wall.

Of course, the holes were filled with your usual critters and nastiness, with poor Mo coming up against locusts, cockroaches, maggots, offal and worms, all while being covered in fish guts.

He had 12 minutes to retrieve 12 stars – finishing with nine in his bag, as he ran out of time.

Mo admitted that he was ‘disappointed’ that he didn’t get a full house, but hoped his kids would be ‘pleased’ with him for getting through the trial.

When he got back to camp he enlisted the help of Jordan to wash the stench of fish guts out of his clothes, with Jordan telling viewers at home: ‘I thought it was me being dramatic because I haven’t got a good gag reflex, but honestly, I’ve never smelt anything like it. He absolutely stunk.’

In a cruel twist of fate – just as he managed to rid himself of the smell of fish – Mo was awarded with a dinner of cuttlefish for camp that Vernon cooked.

The first live trial got underway

This series’ first live trial was a battle of the sexes as it saw the campmates divided into the Lords and the Ladies, with six celebrities on each team.

The Royal Tournament comprised of four head-to-head games, where the campers had to try and collect as many gold coins as they can to fill their team’s chest with.

The winning team would be rewarded with a lavish banquet, while the losing team would go hungry and face the next trial the following night.

Things kicked off with Ruthie and Hollie and Jordan and Shane going head-to-head as they dug through a trough of offal to collect coins using their mouths. The boys managed to grab three, while the girls secured two coins.

Next up were Vernon and Victoria who were locked in cages and covered in critters as they tried to unscrew as many coins as they could in one minute. Vernon won 11, while Victoria nabbed six.

AJ and Jess were then locked into stocks and had to place their head into a box full of rats, while they set to work unscrewing their coins, both managing to knock off all eight stars.

In the fourth and final game, the boys’ winning streak was sealed, as Mo and Russell secured more stars than Beverley and Giovanna – all while each camper had their hands locked in a box of locusts and a royal python placed around their necks.

As as a result, the boys secured themselves a banquet dinner, while the girls were forced to eat rice and beans and prepare themselves for tomorrow night’s Barbaric trial…

I’m A Celebrity airs nightly on ITV at 9pm.
