Donald Trump has held South Carolina in the race for the US presidential election after beating Joe Biden.

It was announced Tuesday evening that the president will retain his grasp on the Southern state that he won in 2016.

South Carolina provides nine electoral college votes for the president. A winner needs 270 votes in order to be elected as president.

Trump has won in Indiana, Kentucky and Oklahoma. Biden has won in New Jersey, Maine Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and District of Columbia.

It is still not clear if South Carolina Senator Lindsay Graham has won against his Democrat opponent Jamie Harrison.

That race is a critical race which has left Graham pleading for more funding against his newcomer opponent.

Millions of people cast ballots in early voting and using mail-in ballots, but the election will commence on Tuesday, November 3.
