The Walking Dead season 10 finale is upon us, and we could not be more excited.

In March, production was put on hold following the coronavirus outbreak to help stall the spread of Covid-19, meaning fans have been waiting more than six months to sink their teeth into the latest instalment.

And it was definitely worth the wait – as we got to see the demise of Beta (Ryan Hurst) who was savagely murdered by Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus).

If you’re squeamish, look away now!

While the comic books see Aaron (Ross Marquand) shoot Beta through the chest causing him to fall to his death, the series put a whole new spin on the iconic moment, with Daryl taking the life of the Whisperer leader.

The survivors decided to take on the group as they enter Alpha’s horde.

And while covered in dead flesh, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) comes across Beta in the mass of zombies.

In an attempt to kill the villain, Negan ambushes Beta but ultimately gets pinned to the floor by the zombie worshiper.

Things start to look as though Negan would be the next to suffer from Beta’s wrath, however, Daryl comes and saves the day by stabbing two daggers through Beta’s eyes and into his brain to make sure he is well and truly dead.

Crying out in pain, with blood pouring down his face, we then get taken through a number of flashbacks, seeing Beta remember his time with Alpha (Samantha Morton).

But, his cries attract the attention of his horde who surround Beta and slowly start to pull apart his body – eating him alive.

Honestly, we could not think of a worse way to go.

Negan and Daryl watch on as their enemy disappears in a swarm of walkers – before they run in the opposite direction to find their own safety.

The scene was grotesque and completely horrific, but we could not take our eyes off the screen as the Whisperer war finally came to an end.

So what’s next for our survivors?

The Walking Dead is set to return to AMC and NOW TV in 2021.
