It’s good news for workers everywhere as the August bank holiday is here.

Also known as the summer bank holiday, it always falls on the last Monday of August.

However, with today predicted to be the ‘coldest August bank holiday on record’, many are no doubt wondering when the next one is in the hopes of better weather next time around.

If you’re one of those people, we have some sad news for you…

When is the next UK bank holiday this year?

You’d better enjoy this bank holiday as much as you can because the August bank holiday is the last one until Christmas.

That means we’ve got nigh on four months to wait.

After Christmas Day, the next bank holiday usually falls directly after on Boxing Day.

This year, since Boxing Day falls on a Saturday, we get a substitute bank holiday the following Monday, December 28.

Meanwhile, weather forecasters predicted temperatures today would be well below average for this time of year, hitting lows of 11°C in some parts of the UK.

‘We could see some places getting the coldest maximum temperatures on record this Bank Holiday Monday,’ meteorologist Emma Salter said.

Lovely.
