EastEnders viewers can go back in time and re-live one of the soap’s greatest instalments tonight, as the hour-long 30th anniversary ‘Who Killed Lucy Beale?’ episode airs on BBC One.

With pre-lockdown instalments having come to an end on June 16, EastEnders went off the air for the first time ever.

However, in an effort to ensure viewers get a weekly trip to Albert Square, an iconic episode will air each and every Tuesday.

The iconic episodes launched last month, with the legendary Den and Angie two-hander from 1986 kicking things off, and the classic Sharongate followed the week after.

Syed and Amira’s wedding from 2010 was the third classic instalment shown, last year’s memorable Pride episode became the fourth, and Pat and Peggy’s stellar showdown from 1998 became the fifth.

Tonight, we’re revisiting an absolutely incredible outing in the form of the hour-long instalment broadcast during the soap’s 30th anniversary week back in 2015.

This particular episode fell on the actual date of said anniversary, and centred on the ‘Who Killed Lucy Beale?’ storyline, featuring several live segments.

Ten months since Lucy (Hetti Bywater) was murdered, and the Beale clan are somewhat closer to finally uncovering the truth.

What’s more, a character long thought to be dead — aka Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) — makes a shocking return!

The story in question was one of several superb narratives that were explored while titan producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins was in charge of the soap, and we simply can’t wait to see it again.

EastEnders: Who Killed Lucy? airs tonight, July 28 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
