If there’s one pair of soap siblings that will never, ever stop scrapping – whether over women, family, money or the last slice of pizza – then it’s Jack and Max Branning.

And Jake Wood, who plays Max, admits that he loves the opportunity to film the high octane punch ups with colleage Scott Maslen.

He enthused: ‘We laugh a lot and hopefully that will come across in Secrets From The Square. The first couple of years, Max and Jack were fighting a lot. They were at loggerheads. Obviously Jack was with Tanya for a short time who was the love of Max’s life so that didn’t go down too well with Max.

‘Every five minutes they seem to be throwing punches at each other at the Vic. They were just fun to do, these big epic fights. I think over the years the characters have just been there for each other.

‘At their lowest points, they’ve been there to support each other no matter how much they fight. To me it seems like a very real sibling relationship.’

But even if they do scrap, Jake insists they have the best bond in real life. And as they get together to reflect on Secrets Of The Square, he was thrilled to take down memory lane with his pretend brother.

He smiled: I knew his work from The Bill, I was a big fan of his. We just clicked from the start. I’m the good looking one and I think he’s fine with that. That’s a joke, Scott is obviously a very good looking guy, whether we could be brothers in real life is a different matter.

‘He was always a great addition to the show. Great actor and great fun to be around. It’s always a pleasure to work with him.

‘We have a really fun and silly relationship. We’ve been playing brothers for many years so in some ways we are like brothers. We tease each other a lot, take the mickey out of each other. So yeah a lot more light and laughter. Just us being us.

‘You’ll see a little bit behind the scenes of the set, it’s nice for the audience to get to know us as people as well and not just the characters. Hopefully it’s a nice little insight and will get viewers excited about what’s coming up.’
