The Witcher fans are eagerly waiting for season two to drop on Netflix but showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has teased us with how it’s going to play out between two of our favourite characters.
The first chapter of the fantasy series followed a semi-non-linear pattern as it tracked the stories of its three main characters; Geralt (Henry Cavill), Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Princess Ciri (Freya Allan).
It wasn’t made clear to viewers that, essentially, all three of their storylines took place in a different period of time until they were more or less merged at the end of the season.
And after the first series, fans will be wondering how Ciri and Geralt will respond to their ‘new normal’.
‘What I think is really fun about Geralt and Ciri is they are the most unexpected family you can imagine,’ Lauren began.
‘You have a witcher whose sole job is to kill things for money and you have a little girl who is trying to escape her past and it’s like, how do they come together? And to me, one of the most fun things we get to explore in Season 2 now is how they get to change and shift each other. ‘
Lauren went on to add that fans will have a good sense of who each character is by now, but all of that will change when they are forced together in certain circumstances.
‘I think it’s really fun. It’s not always pretty. They will argue. They will fight. It will be two strangers coming together for the first time and being told, ‘Nope, you’re gonna be together forever.’ I think that their growth together into being a father and daughter is one of my favourite parts of the series,’ she added to The Wrap.
A second season of The Witcher is in the works, but production has been halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to reports, filming is due to resume in August.
Filming for season two of The Witcher got underway in February, with a host of famous faces having joined the cast.
While an exact launch date hasn’t been confirmed just yet but fans of the Netflix hit can expect it to air in 2021.
The Witcher is available to stream on Netflix.
