IMPACT Wrestling has terminated Tessa Blanchard from her contract.

The former World Champion – who became the first woman to win IMPACT’s top title when she defeated Sami Callihan at Hard To Kill in January this year – has been stripped of her belt and has now left the .

In a statement, the promotion said: ‘IMPACT Wrestling has confirmed that it has terminated its relationship with Tessa Blanchard and stripped her of the IMPACT Wrestling World Championship.’

No further details have officially released, and Tessa herself is yet to publicly comment on her release or the future.

According to reports from Fightful Select, the 24-year-old star’s contract was set to expire on June 30, and neither side could come to an agreement.

Tessa hasn’t appeared for the company since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, as she has been in Mexico with her fiance Daga, who is also part of the IMPACT Wrestling roster.

She was originally scheduled to defend her championship at Slammiversary on July 18.

It’s also been reported that Tessa was allegedly asked to sent in promos for the most recent tapings, but this didn’t happen.

PWInsider also claims that when IMPACT’s apparent attempts to get her to return to drop the title didn’t lead to anything, they chose to vacate the championship and terminate her contract.

Tessa – whose father is legendary wrestler, WWE Hall of Famer and current All Elite Wrestling personality Tully Blanchard – first started training when she was 18, and worked on the independent scene in the early years of her career.

She made three appearances on NXT in 2016, and her only other WWE appearance came the following year when she lost to Kairi Sane in the first round of the Mae Young Classic.

She joined IMPACT Wrestling in 2018, making her debut at Redepmton and going onto win the Knockouts Championship at ReDefined that summer.

Alongside Callihan, in July 2019 she was in the first intergender match to ever headline a wrestling pay-per-view at Slammiversary XVII, and in January this year she made history by winning the world title.

At the time, she was accused of using a racist slur against independent wrestler LaRose Negra – which she vehemently denied.

She said: ‘To read this allegation has been personally upsetting. To be clear, I absolutely did not use that word.

‘That word is not in my vocabulary. That word is not in my heart. Racism is not in my heart.’
