Over on Good Morning Britain the deputy prime minister Dominic Raab had been wheeled out for the latest round of ‘cabinet ministers attempt to defend the indefensible’.
Today’s topic was Chris Pincher, the Tory MP who’s been suspended by the party over allegations that he groped two men at a private members’ club while drunk.
Specifically, a 2019 inquiry into the Tamworth MP which upheld complaints about his ‘inappropriate behaviour’.
Presenter Susanna Reid naturally asked Raab about it today and it’s fair to say she wasn’t taking any of his weasel words. Absolutely none of them.

That’s Dominic Raab, deputy PM and justice secretary.
Susanna Reid: How does someone who is found guilty by an internal investigation.. get to be deputy chief whip?
Dominic Raab: You say found guilty
SR: An investigation upheld the complaint
DR: Using the word guilty is wrong
SR: So what does an upheld investigation mean? #GMB pic.twitter.com/PkNdPA4AOu

There really are no words for Raab – not pre-watershed, anyway – but fortunately these people said it for us.
1.
In which Raab, for reasons that are not hard to fathom, rejects use of the word 'guilty' to describe someone found by an investigation to have done a bad thing. https://t.co/lnLBTdwbR1

the justice secretary is on television this morning actively obfuscating// downplaying the actions of an mp who’s been repeatedly found to have sexually assaulted people. just to be clear on where we’re at. pic.twitter.com/6sivj7smnP

I see @susannareid100 is having a BBQ for breakfast and on her skewer is Dominic Raab. This is EXCRUCIATING. pic.twitter.com/YmIZb2EgHO

Oh the viewers have made up their mind. This is appalling. This man is in charge of the worst record on rape charging and conviction ever. Government attitude matters not just for their protection but for ours. https://t.co/m7J0F7fyt6

6.
An undiluted lesson in precise inquisition by @susannareid100 which is so skilfully done that the Deputy Prime Minister ends up in knots, hopelessly denying that his party is recklessly guilty of appointing a known wrong 'un to high office, endangering the welfare of colleagues. https://t.co/rLYyNRydF3

This man is 100% guilty of being an absolute idiot that’s for sure. https://t.co/ogGPOMfrC7

The minister responsible for our justice system doesn’t think “guilty” is an appropriate term for someone who, after an investigation, is found to have done a bad thing (and apologises for it) https://t.co/JCWz2y9ep6

What's your favourite line from Better Call Saul? Mine's 'Guilty is a very loaded term' oh wait that was Dominic Raab, the Justice Secretary
— Toby Earle (@TobyonTV) July 5, 2022

Former solicitor and *checks notes* current Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor Dominic Raab explaining that “guilty” is a “very loaded term”. His move into politics was clearly a big loss for the law. As, indeed, it was for politics. https://t.co/EmKaoKA2lr

In one word …
Amazing https://t.co/B52FQgIDEH

In a few more …
Dominic Raab's definitely going to have to punch a hole in a wall after this morning's broadcast round.
