It’s a good job Boris Johnson got all the big calls right and has the unwavering support of his parliamentary party.
If his leadership were under scrutiny, this allegation of an attempt to do something incredibly excessive at a time of serious need and crisis might have made his tenuous position even worse.

According to The Times, Johnson enquired about the luxury treehouse in Autumn 2020, when his son, Wilf, was around six months old. Security issues around its location stopped the project in its tracks.
The sheer excess and entitlement of Johnson’s request surprised nobody. This is what people thought of it.

Nothing shows empathy with the financial struggles of ordinary people like trying to build a £150,000 tree house in the grounds of your 16th century mansion. https://t.co/D3uSJgDRbu

Cannot stress enough how this is the same Boris Johnson who AT THE SAME TIME made his party vote against feeding vulnerable hungry children at Christmas during a pandemic https://t.co/INZfAPmAJG

Have you ever built a treehouse? If so, roughly how much did it cost? What would you need to add to it in order to push the budget to £150k?

Even by his ethics-free, other-people’s-money standards, this is wild. Really surprised he hasn’t yet tried to put the country first by getting a hameau for his wife https://t.co/tehKrEnkGo

I heard it was because Boris was worried the foliage would remind people that when it comes to kids, he always leaves. https://t.co/61uNs44NeD

Autumn 2020
UK: How long will Covid go on? Can I pay my mortgage? Will my children be safe at school? Can they make a vaccine? How will I forgive myself for not holding my parents' hands as they passed?
Johnson: I need a 150k tree house. https://t.co/GX2JyunnJY

The same Tory peer, Lord Brownlow who paid for Johnson’s No.10 flat refurb…
Was also ready to pay for a £150k treehouse for Johnson’s son, Wilfred
How generous
…and nothing at all to do with the string of Govt contracts he won worth up to £120mhttps://t.co/8IIYK1YkxN
