The Chase viewers witnessed something truly remarkable on Tuesday, after a 20-year-old contestant made history with an incredible £75,000 solo win.
According to Bradley Walsh, contestant Eden achieved the biggest win ever on a daytime TV show by a solo player.
Eden was lost for words as he was triumphant over Chaser Darragh Ennis, ending his six-month winning streak in the process.
He was the last of his team standing after making it to the final, making £3,000 in his cash builder and then choosing to go for the higher cash offer of £75,000.
Eden managed to get back home successfully and set up a thrilling chase in the final round. Host Bradley Walsh then watched on as he faced Darragh on his own.
Asked what he would do with the money if he won, he said: ‘I suppose a car would be nice.. But nothing snazzy. Just anything with four wheels.’
Amazingly, he managed to win and took home a whopping £75,000 by answering 18 questions correctly.
Bradley was in awe after his performance, declaring him the biggest ever solo winner on the show – beating the previous record held by a contestant called Judith who won £70,000 in 2019.
Bradley told Eden: ‘I can’t believe it! This is incredible, he’s 20 years old and just won £75,000.
‘It’s the single highest win in daytime history.’
Quizzer Darragh congratulated him, saying: ‘You did very well, it was all about the pushbacks in the end.’
It comes after The Chase fans were left unimpressed with the show after Josh, a contestant who is blind, was asked questions about the colour of snooker balls.
Astrophysics student Josh teamed up with fellow contestants Lesley, Phil and Jen on the show, with the team battling against chaser Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett to win the cash prize.
Elsewhere, Bradley recently spoke out about his future on the show, saying he plans to retire in a couple of years.
The 61-year-old spoke on the Sliding Doors podcast about being prepared to call time on his 40-year career.
‘You know what, in a couple of years time I won’t have to do any of it, I’ll be retired and that’ll be it,’ he said.
The Chase airs on weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
