Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Manchester United to tie five players down to new and improved contracts to improve harmony in the dressing room.
The Red Devils underlined their Premier League title credentials with an impressive 5-1 victory over Leeds United on Saturday.
Improved results on the pitch and a couple of exciting new signings suggest Manchester United are on their back following an underwhelming couple of years, and Solskjaer wants his core group of players to be on similar wages so that the dressing-room harmony is not damaged.
According to The Sun, Solskjaer wants his club to offer new deals and pay rises for Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw.
It is claimed the Norwegian boss is also optimistic that Paul Pogba will commit his long-term future to Manchester United, with his current contract set to expire next summer.
Fernandes still has five years left on his current deal but his salary of £100,000-a-week pales into comparison to some of his teammates, with the likes of David de Gea and Pogba on £375,000 and £290,000 respectively.
England stars Maguire, Rashford and Shaw all earn around £190,000 and will likely be offered similar terms to Fernandes, who scored a hat-trick during the thrashing over Leeds.
Reports have linked French World Cup winner Pogba will a move to Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain next summer but United are said to be increasingly confident he will put pen to paper on a new deal.
Club legend Gary Neville still expects the midfielder to leave in 12 months’ time, however, telling Sky Sports on Sunday: ‘Manchester United need one outstanding season from Paul Pogba because he’s going to leave next summer.
‘I think he will enjoy this new Man United team but I do think he has an ambition to play somewhere else, his agent has told us that.
‘I think right now he will be thinking, “I like this team but I do want to go to Real Madrid or Paris”.’
