Josie Gibson has spoken of her sadness after putting down her beloved dog Milly.
The This Morning star, 36, took to Twitter on Wednesday to tell her followers of the heartbreaking news.
The former Big Brother winner wrote: ‘Awww just had to put the dog down. She was in so much pain but you still feel like you’ve let them down when you go through with it.’
The reality star was inundated with kind messages from fans who wished her well.
‘Oh how tough! You did the right thing – but I know what it’s like – you feel torn between knowing it’s for the best but hoping for a miracle that they might improve with more time,’ wrote one follower.
‘My heart goes out to you, I had to put to sleep my wonderful boy Eddie once cancer took him over. Even though it was the best thing for him, I was devestated, I’d lost my boy, I loved him with all my heart. I was truly heartbroken. Your heart will repair but you’ll never forget,’ posted someone else.
Another social media user shared: ‘Ahhh @Josiestweet so sorry, it’s a sad thing when you have to do it , I haven’t been though it yet but have seen it in my family and was a hard thing to do , hope the good memories outshine the bad.’
Someone else wrote: ‘So sorry for your loss. It’s been kind though if not in pain anymore. I had to have my special dog put to sleep following a stroke 6yrs ago and I still miss him loads. I have a four yr old dog now, he’s lovely as are all dogs.’
Josie shared an adorable snap of herself and Milly on Instagram last year as the television personality stood on a green hill and held the pooch in her arms.
She captioned the post: ‘Incredible views filming with my good time boys @harrybott1 and @sammorter 11 hour shoot but i still love you, Milly was the star of the show shes done so well considering she’s 18!! Look out for the VTs next Wednesday on @thismorning.’
