The first half of Too Hot to Handle season two has finally hit our screens but the show is still shrouded in mystery, as viewers are wondering when exactly it was filmed.

The first season, which premiered last year, saw a group of single individuals enter a house with the aim of splitting a $100,000 (£71,000) cash prize at the end of their stay.

The catch? They had to try and refrain from having any intimate contact with each other for four weeks, with the odd exception here and there.

If anyone broke the rules, they ran the risk of suffering fines. If the contestants showed that they were making meaningful relationships, the rules could be temporarily lifted.

We know that the second series has moved locations, but when exactly was the season filmed?

For the show’s creators, secrecy is essential. In season one, the contestants were only allowed to understand what they’d signed up for once the cameras started rolling. Producers even developed an alternate title for the show, Parties in Paradise, to ensure that no one got wind of what was to come.

Despite the tremendous popularity of the first season, Netflix only confirmed in January 2021 that the programme was going to be renewed for two more.

The unexpected move raised some eyebrows among fans, with some speculating that the streaming service did so to keep Too Hot to Handle participants in the dark yet again.

While details continue to be sparse, we do have one idea about when filming might have taken place.

According to a rumour published by Deadline, filming was already underway by the time Netflix revealed that it had greenlit season two and three at the beginning of the year.

Too Hot Hot To Handle season 2 is available to stream now on Netflix.
