Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel admits Mason Mount’s form has dipped in recent weeks but he has no doubt that the playmaker will get back to his best.
The England international has been Chelsea’s top scorer since Tuchel took over, scoring six times under the German.
Chelsea have lacked a clinical forward this term and their charity in front of goal came back to haunt them against Leicester City on Saturday, as the Foxes lifted the FA Cup for the first time after a 1-0 win.
Mount missed a golden opportunity at Wembley and Tuchel admits the midfielder is not at his best right now.
Tuchel has warned though not to expect too much from the playmaker.
‘He has struggled a bit to have the same impact he usually has but he is always dangerous for us,’ said Tuchel.
‘We should be careful that we don’t over expect from Mason – that he is the absolutely decisive player in every match.
‘He is a key player for us and that won’t change for the next three matches. Absolutely not.’
Chelsea must beat Leicester City at home on Tuesday to keep up their hopes of a top four finish.
Liverpool’s dramatic last minute winner against West Brom on Sunday means the Reds will likely obtain a Champions League finish if they win their last two matches.
With Jurgen Klopp’s side likely to do so, it’s now a straight shootout between Leicester and Chelsea for the final spot.
