The weather is set to warm up in time for the reopening of pubs, restaurants, cafes and bars next week.
On April 12 the hospitality sector will finally be allowed to serve customers outside. People will have to order, drink and eat at their tables and can only meet in groups of six or in two different households.
England’s upcoming mini-heatwave will be welcome news for those planning to drink a pint outside.
On Monday, most temperatures will reach between 5C and 10C, hitting a high of 12C in some areas. Whilst it will still be fresh and chilly, the day will likely be bright and dry.
The weather will gradually become more settled over this weekend but conditions on Monday, the day Brits have been waiting for, will see the ‘main change’, the Met Office’s Oliver Claydon told Metro.co.uk.
As spring gets milder across the country, there will still be a north-south divide with windier conditions in the north-west and possible snow in Scotland’s high ground.
From Monday, many places in the country will start enjoying double-digit degrees during the day and colder, frosty evenings.
By Wednesday, most of the country will experience temperatures above 10C with London getting to 14C.
Areas up north will not be far behind with Aberdeen expecting to reach 11C on Tuesday.
It comes after weeks of extreme weather see-sawing between temperatures that took the UK to its hottest March in 50 years and dips which were cold enough to produce snow.
Easter weekend in London saw a crisp, bright day on Sunday only for it to be followed with light snow falls throughout Monday.
Mr Claydon said it is normal to see drastic weather swings in spring because of where the UK is in the world.
The upcoming shift to warmer weather will hopefully encourage Brits to cautiously take advantage of the country’s new freedoms and pump money into an industry that has been devastated by the coronavirus pandemic.
Boris Johnson has said the Government sees ‘no reason to deviate’ from its roadmap out of lockdown.
He added: ‘We’re going to step two from April 12. And things seem set for May 17.
‘Monday the 12th, I will be going to the pub myself and cautiously but irreversibly raising a pint of beer to my lips.’
However, he later cancelled his pub plans following the death of Prince Philip.
