Amir Khan and his wife Faryal are looking forward to ‘telling their story their way’ in their upcoming reality series, which launches on BBC Three this Sunday.
Meet The Khans comprises of eight episodes and is set to welcome fans into the lives of the two-time heavyweight champion and the influencer, who reside with their three children in Bolton.
Talking to Metro.co.uk about why they felt the need to put themselves in the spotlight, especially given previous trolling, Amir said: ‘We want to show what my life is about, not just inside the ring but outside the ring and what we’re like as a family at home, being a Muslim and being from England.
‘We’re normal people, but at the same time, we are having all these other engagements, we’re keeping ourselves busy with our children.’
‘For me, it was like I’m a mum-of-three, super busy, hands-on, but I’m not only a mum-of-three and Amir’s wife, I’m also an influencer and I have my own brand,’ Faryal added. ‘I run around without makeup, I’m not always glamorous.’
‘It’s good to get your own voice out their and control your own narrative,’ she continued.
‘People get to see your real personality,’ Amir said, adding that he’s a big fan of reality TV.
‘With me, people always see the tough guy, the strong guy, they don’t get to see the funny side, the family side, the father side.
‘We wanted to tell our story in our own way… we wanted to be real.’
Episode one of Amir and Faryal’s reality series kicks off with Faryal escaping the chaos at home for some influencer work and leaving Amir to look after kids, Muhammad, Lamaisah, and Alayna.
The couple also discusses making headlines and reflect on their past over a rare date night in Manchester.
Meet The Khans: Big in Bolton is available to stream from Sunday 28th March on BBC Three.
