Lil Wayne might catch a massive stroke of luck as he’s reportedly one of the people Donald Trump will pardon before leaving the White House today.

The Lollipop rapper is currently facing a 10-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to a federal gun charge

In November, Lil Wayne sparked controversy after he was pictured meeting Trump at the White House which many took as him endorsing the divisive president over Joe Biden just days before the US presidential election.

According to Fox News, Trump is gathering a lengthy list of names of people for pardons and commutations during his final full day in office on Tuesday. Lil Wayne is said to be one of the 50-100 people on Trump’s list which was reportedly finalised in a meeting on Sunday.

Sources told the publication that there’s a small chance Trump’s administration will wait until Wednesday morning to sign on the dotted line.

Following his meeting with Trump, Lil Wayne shared a photo of them posing together in the White House and wrote: ‘Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership.

‘He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done.’

Lil Wayne, 38, was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition last December, when he was on a private plane searched by federal agents in Miami.

The Grammy-winning rapper, real name Dwayne Michael Carter – admitted to possessing a .45 calibre gun and six rounds of ammunition. According to Sky News, he entered his plea before US District Judge Kathleen Williams, during a remote hearing.

‘Your honour, I plead guilty to the charge,’ he reportedly told the court.

As the musician has a previous weapons conviction from more than a decade ago, it means he faces up to 10 years behind bars as It is illegal for convicted felons to possess firearms.

He is free on $250,000 (£186,000) bail, but surrendered his passport to authorities. The pardon could come just in time as a sentencing hearing is set for January 28.

After he was charged, Lil Wayne’s lawyer, Howard Srebnick, issued a statement at the time, which read: ‘Carter is charged with possessing a gold-plated handgun in his luggage on a private plane.

‘There is no allegation that he ever fired it, brandished it, used it or threatened to use it. There is no allegation that he is a dangerous person. The charge is that because he was convicted of a felony in the past, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm.’

It continued: ‘Although the Supreme Court has not yet decided the constitutional question, Justice Amy Coney Barrett recently wrote an appellate dissenting opinion in which she stated that, “Absent evidence that he either belongs to a dangerous category or bears individual markers of risk, permanently disqualifying [a convicted felon] from possessing a gun violates the Second Amendment”.’

Lil Wayne has not addressed the reports of his possible pardon but he instead acknowledged Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday and tweeted: ‘Because he had a dream I am able to live out my dreams. I am forever mindful.

‘Forever grateful. Because he had a dream I’ll never stop dreaming and dreams are forever. King. Forever.’
