Hollyoaks fans were left in awe last year, when a flash-forward episode previewed the devastation that lay ahead for the residents of the village when the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve 2020.
A wedding was taking place, the police were investigating the village’s youths over drug-related offences, Sid Sumner’s (Billy Price) guitar was smashed up, and a body lay in a body bag outside The Hutch.
The nation let out a collective sigh, as viewers came to the realisation that they’d have to wait 12 months to find out what happened.
Mean, or just very clever? A bit of both we reckon, but fear not as the time is almost upon us to find out what happens next!
And if you simply cannot wait until then, here are some new spoilers which give a little taster of what you’ve got to look forward to.
A flashback to New Year’s Eve 2019 will feature, as a joyous Nancy Osborne (Jessica Fox) informs her fellow villagers that they should ‘make 2020 a year to remember!’
It’s safe to say they certainly did just that.
However, no story — or, in this case, year — is complete without a thrilling conclusion, and that’s exactly what the New Year episodes have in store.
The ‘parents who party’ group chat is back in full swing as Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring) uploads a selfie — excited about ‘the midnight wedding’ and the end of 2020.
Meanwhile, drug dealer Victor Brothers (Benjamin O’Mahony) gathers his foot soliders in Juliet Nightingale (Niamh Blackshaw), Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan) and Ella Richardson (Ella Palmer), as he dishes out his final instructions ahead of the night’s celebrations.
Jordan Price (Connor Calland) avoids Victor’s calls, as he wants to see in the new Year with Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell), but he’s left panicking when Leela (Kirsty Leigh Porter) arrives home!
Nancy tells Charlie that she’s proud of how he’s handled himself this year and stayed out of trouble, but John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) later sees the young man dealing drugs to Ollie Morgan (Gabriel Clark).
Nancy is horrified when John Paul reveals what he witnessed, but something sparks Mandy’s (Sarah Jayne Dunn) suspicion, and she desperately tries to call Ella.
The police puts out a search for Charlie and raid Nancy’s house, and Nancy is devastated when they locate drugs inside Charlie’s game controller. Everyone is frantically looking for Charlie and Ella, but will Victor get to them first?
Speaking of Victor, he issues Juliet with a dark threat — threatening to kill her loved ones, and therefore she does everything in her power to protect her family and friends.
She turns up at the Lomaxes to see Peri, and both girls confess their love for one other. Meanwhile, Leela is looking for Sid, but she soon find his smashed-up guitar in The Dog car park.
Tom Cunningham (Ellis Hollins) prepares to marry Yazz Maalik (Haiesha Mistry), but will the ceremony go ahead with impending danger facing the village?
Tragedy strikes at The Hutch, as it becomes a crime scene, and John Paul is broken when PC George Kiss’ (Callum Kerr) police batch lies next to the body bag.
It’s safe to say that this New Year is one that will change Hollyoaks forever, and you’re not going to want to miss a single second.
Hollyoaks airs these scenes Monday December 28 and Tuesday December 29 at 7pm on E4.
