This is the terrifying moment in Coronation Street which sees a bloodthirtsy and revenge fuelled Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) chase his terrified wife Yasmeen (Shelley King) onto the roof of her home after setting the place on fire.

Yasmeen was recently found not guilty of the attack on Geoff in court, leaving him furious and he seemed to be making plans to escape from Weatherfield after Yasmeen reported him to the police for domestic abuse.

However, it seems that obsessed and cruel Geoff can’t leave things be and wants to take Yasmeen down with him. In a sinister turn of events, he lures her back to her house in a vicious trap before cornering her in horrifying scenes.

Outside, there is huge commotion as Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) loses control of the digger and puts out the electricity across the community, plunging Yasmeen into darkness as Geoff lies in wait.

As Yasmeen desperately tries to escape, Geoff pours lighter fluid everywhere and sets fire to the house, blocking the exit. A petrified Yasmeen runs up the stairs and climbs out the window, ending up on the roof and crying out for help – but her voice is drowned out by the chanting and the machinery on the Street.

And in a ‘Here’s Geoffrey!’ moment, suddenly his evil face appears and he clambers onto the roof, seemingly intent on killing Yasmeen.

But as she cowers for her life, will Geoff do something terrible? Or will Alya (Sair Khan) arrive on time as she suddenly appears on the roof behind Geoff.

With three on the roof, lives are hanging in the balance in tense scenes. But will Geoff give up the fight now that he has been caught terrorising Yasmeen red handed?

Or is the night set to end in tragedy?

In order to film these close contact scenes the actors, stunt doubles and stunt coordinators self isolated and were Covid tested regularly throughout the two week shoot.

A duplicate low rooftop was built on site and green screen technology used to recreate the background.

Although stunt doubles were used for some shots, the majority of the scenes called for the actors to wear a safety harness as they climbed the makeshift rooftop.

Speaking about doing the stunt scenes, Sair told Metro.co.uk: ‘I am the next action woman! I would have been hanging off that roof all week given the opportunity!

‘When I first started, I was in a coach crash but this roof was something else. We had a plank but I refused to use it – I wanted it to be so authentic. I am geeking out but it was so much fun!’

Coronation Street airs these dramatic scenes in an anniversary special on Wednesday December 9 at 7:30pm on ITV.
