A newborn baby has miraculously survived after being buried alive on a farm in India.
The baby is believed to have been spotted by a labourer who saw its face poking out of the soil while working in the fields in Khatima, Uttarakhand – close to the border with Nepal.
The labourer, Kundan Singh Bhandari, then alerted other locals and police who rushed to the spot to frantically rescue the baby earlier this morning, according to reports.
Distressing footage shows the moment the infant was pulled from the ground and rescued by the group who quickly wrap the child in a blanket.
A woman wipes the baby’s face, which is covered in soil, but it does not appear to respond.
The infant was then rushed to a hospital to receive treatment and is now said to be in a stable condition.
Local media reports that the police are investigating the circumstances around the incident.
