Morale in the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! camp dipped a little on Thursday’s show, with Shane Richie and Hollie Arnold only managing to win four meals in their trial.
The pair went up against one of the trickiest challenges of the series so far, and admitted they had ‘dropped the ball’ after doing so well in the trials earlier in the week.
Elsewhere, there was a change of camp leader and a fairy tale Castle Coin challenge to enjoy.
But what exactly happened on last night’s episode?
There’s a new leader in camp
The public voted Giovanna Fletcher as the new leader of camp on Thursday, kicking off a series of changes.
‘This is a bit of a surprise. I’ll be honest, I’ve been eying up that chair – that football scarf can do one as now I’m in town,’ Giovanna said.
She assigned jobs in camp and appointed Beverley Callard as her deputy, who was ‘thrilled’ to be chosen.
Vernon Kay and Victoria Derbyshire were put on cooking duties, Mo Farah and Shane Richie were chosen for camp maintenance, Jordan North and Hollie Arnold put on cleaning, Ruthie Henshall and Russell Watson selected for laundry and finally Jessica Plummer and AJ Pritchard were on washing up.
AJ said: ‘If you do a job too well you get given a job, don’t you? I’m happy with my role.’
After being taken off washing up duty, Shane jokingly threw his tin on the floor before putting in the bucket for cleaning. AJ wasn’t best pleased, with fans spotting his side-eye.
A fairy tale Castle Coin challenge
Victoria and Hollie took on the Castle Coin challenge, arriving in a fairy tale garden in the grounds outside of camp.
One celebrity was tasked with becoming a storyteller, sitting in a chair reading tales that all had a word missing. The other had to find the missing word hidden around the grounds and throw them into a treasure chest.
Incorrect answers resulted in the storyteller being covered in feathers and green goo, but the fair finally completed the task.
They were given a choice of jelly beans or gingerbread men, and they went with jelly beans. Kiosk Cledwyn asked the campmates what percentage of parents admitted to having a favourite child – 10% or 18%.
The camp guessed right with 10% and won the sweet treats for camp.
Shane and Hollie take on a tricky trial
The campmates were gutted after Shane and Hollie managed to win just four meals on Thursday. The pair were left disappointed after taking on Wicked Waterways, which proved one of the trickiest challenges so far this series.
The EastEnders actor and the Paralympic gold champion headed to the trial area, where they were confronted with two tunnels, one on top of the other.
The pair had to use a bucket to transfer water through the tunnels and into the collection pipes. Once they had gathered enough water, the stars floated to the top and they could collect them.
A total of six stars were up for grabs, each representing two meals for camp. After a ‘tough’ time inside the tunnels surrounded by all manner of creepy crawlies, they managed just four meals.
‘We set a precedent, this is the first one when we’ve kind of dropped the ball,’ Shane said.
The camp were surprised and disappointed after hearing the result, with Victoria Derbyshire saying: ‘We’ve eaten like Kings and Queens the past few days and this is a real come down.’
‘Everyone’s a little bit, not fed up, we’re in shock,’ Victoria said.
Victoria’s misstep and celebrities’ worst days
Victoria recalled her worst day in her job, where she famously mispronounced Jeremy Hunt’s name live on air.
The journalist said: ‘I mispronounced his name, it was excruciating, it was awful, I buried my head in my hands.’
After the campmates laughed, Giovanna said: ‘It’s quite comforting knowing whoever you are or whatever you do, we all have those days where it’s just not going your way.’
Recalling their worst days in their careers, Ruthie told a story about projectile vomiting while starring with Mickey Rooney in Crazy For You.
Jordan told a story about interviewing Yungblud and mentioning his ex-girlfriend’s name to his face just after their breakup. Finally, Mo recalled the moment he fell over during an international championship race and ended up running the wrong way around the track.
Finally, it was revealed that Shane and AJ would be taking on Friday’s Chambers of Horror trial.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs daily at 9pm on ITV.
