Hollyoaks is taking viewers back in time once more next week, as it returns to 1999 with a classic instalment which sees stalwart Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) put out of business!
Over the past couple of months, viewers have been enjoying some of the Channel 4 soap’s finest outings from years gone by.
Two special series — Hollyoaks Favourites and Hollyoaks@25 — kept us entertained with classic episodes during the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw production halt on current instalments.
With newer episodes being rationed out at three a week — before being further cut to two — the soap eventually went off our screens.
Classic episodes were transmitted in its absence, until new outings returned on September 7 — with the soap back on our screens four times a week from Monday to Thursday.
As one can never have too much Hollyoaks, the Friday slot has been occupied with classic episodes once more, and next week’s takes us back to 1999.
This particular episode is a tough one for icon Tony, as he’s not pleased when his store, Got It Taped, is put out of business by a rival video shop!
Meanwhile, the Patrick family welcome Sol (Paul Danan) home when he’s released from prison and Jack (Jimmy McKenna) is furious when Finn parks his bus in The Dog carpark. Elsewhere, Cindy accuses her boyfriend, Sean of not looking after Holly properly.
This episode — the soap’s 327th — was initially broadcast in June 1999.
One to watch: Friday November 20 at 7pm on E4.
