Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) is set to take noble action in EastEnders when his conscience gets the better of him over the recent criminal heist and he heads to the police station to give himself up.
He is determined to save Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and the family from facing the consequences of the job but Kat is left stunned by his actions as they had planned to make a getaway from Walford for good once Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) had parted with the cash.
As Kat and Kush emerge from hiding and sneak back onto Albert Square, Kat’s first port of call is Phil but as a form of self insurance, he is only prepared to hand over a fraction of what Kat is owed, leaving her trapped.
Sensing terrible consequences if the family are pulled into the radar of the police or the revenge of Phil, Kush recognises that the troubles were started with his gambling addiction and decides he should be the one to fix the situation.
Arriving at the police station, Kush confesses to the crime and confirms he was working alone but will he be believed?
When Kat learns the truth about what Kush has done from Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), she is gutted with his actions and seeks help from Phil – only to get a threat in return.
With Kush facing a prison spell, a gutted Kat considers leaving Walford on her own but will she go through with it?
