BTS star Jungkook says the group sing because they love performing for their fans and not ‘only to achieve results’.
The boy group held a press conference on Friday morning as they released their new album BE (Deluxe Edition).
Members RM, Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, J-Hope, and V spoke to South Korean and global press about the release of lead single Life Goes On, out today.
Kpop Herald quotes singer Jungkook, who directed the Life Goes On video, as saying: ‘We are the people who feel happiest performing on stage. We don’t dance or sing only to achieve results.
‘We won’t cling to rankings, as we will keep doing what we want to do and making music that we can share with ARMYs.’
However their results so far have been brilliant, with their music breaking global records and English-language single Dynamite seeing them become the first all-South Korean act to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The group’s rapper Suga was absent from the conference as he is recovering from an operation on his shoulder.
He will be sitting out for most of the K-pop group’s promo activities for BE as he heals from the operation to repair a torn shoulder labrum.
The Fake Love singers looked dapper at the conference in Seoul wearing smart suits in black or grey.
Jin’s style stood out in particular, as he accessorised his look with glasses, and V’s dramatic coat was a great look.
Once more they brought up their Grammy hopes (a goal passionately shared by their fanbase ARMY), with rapper J-Hope saying he won’t be able to hold back the tears if it ever happens.
‘Since we are a team, it would be so great to receive an award as a group, as we could have achieved everything as a group and we revolve as a group.
‘That’s so important to us. If we get awarded, I think I’ll tear up,’ the idol said.
The conference coincided with the release of Life Goes On which follows their previous album Map Of The Soul: 7.
The track is a more laidback affair, as the members hang out at home together before singing the final chorus on stage in all white suits.
It looks to be another hit as the video racked up over 14 million views in an hour of its release.
BE (Deluxe Edition) is out now.
