Todd Grimshaw is officially returning to Coronation Street, with Gareth Pierce replacing Bruno Langley in the role.
We last saw Todd on our screens in 2017, when he assaulted a police officer and went on the run.
But Gareth has teased we may not be meeting the character that we’ve know for 16 years.
Lifting the lid on how the Todd has changed upon his return to Weatherfield, the actor said: ‘He is arriving under a bit of a cloud.
‘He is in a complicated situation – he is tied up with some Manchester gangsters and he is over his head so he has come home to his mum for help.
‘Trouble absolutely follows him back – that’s been nice actually, we talked quite a bit about his characteristics already there.
‘Three years is a long time in his life and he has found himself in some very shady circles. So he’s more battle hardened. His love for those key people in his life Is there and absolutely genuine.
‘Meeting Billy again for the first time is going to be a big moment.’
Well that’s definitely an understatement – as the last time Todd was in on the soap, he attempted to flee the Cobbles with Billy’s goddaughter, Summer, in tow.
So how will Billy react to coming face-to-face with Todd again, and will they be able to put their differences behind them?
The Grimshaw sibling was originally played by Langley, but he pled guilty to sexual assault charges, leading to the character’s exit at the end of 2017.
While Gareth will be a new fixture in Weatherfield, this isn’t the first time TV fans will have seen him.
The actor is best known for his roles as Lenny Mack in Sky 1’s Stella and Gavin Moss in The Archers, also popping up in Ordinary Lies and Hinterland for BBC.
Speaking about joining the Grimshaw family, he previously said: ‘I’m thrilled to be joining such an iconic show, and to have been entrusted with taking Todd forward into some really exciting storylines.
‘It’s an honour to be part of the dedicated Coronation Street team in such unprecedented times.’
And it’s so good to have Todd back.
