Halsey has been named among this year’s TIME’s 100 Most Influential People.
She joins the likes of Megan Thee Stallion, The Weeknd, JoJo Siwa and Michael B Jordan in the 2020 artists category.
Each inductee has a message written for them by a friend, colleague or peer and the Without Me singer’s was penned by K-pop superstars – and her mates – BTS.
They worked together on the track Boy With Luv, and rapper Suga later featured on her album Manic.
Members RM, J-Hope, Jungkook, Jin, Jimin, V and Suga wrote she ‘leaves a lasting impression on everyone she meets’.
‘Her bold spirit really shines through her music and performances, as well as her life. And that spirit and passion have been instilled in us and inspired artistic ambitions of our own,’ the IDOL singers continued.
‘Knowing her music, the decision to collaborate with her on our single Boy With Luv was one of the easiest calls we’ve ever had to make. It just had to be her.’
Paying tribute to her as a ‘strikingly talented artist’ and ‘a dedicated partner’, they added: ‘She inspires us, and we’re incredibly honoured to be able to call her our cherished friend. We cannot wait to see what she has for the world down the road.’
It follows her own intro for BTS in TIME 100 last year.
The musician, real name Ashley Frangipane, is also known for her activism and has used her platform this year to champion her Black Creators Fund Initiative, which will put underrepresented creators their time in the spotlight.
She said in July: ‘I was given a voice and a large platform to speak, and there’s a lot of things that I’m always trying to call attention to.
‘I feel a responsibility and obligation to be involved and call attention. Most recently, we launched the Black Creators Funding Initiative, which was an idea we’d wanted to do for a really long time, which culminated at a moment when a lot of people really needed it the most.
‘It was such a bittersweet experience, because we were receiving entries and receiving work and assets from all these incredible participants, and you get this feeling of excitement looking through all this incredible art.
‘And that crashes down with the realisation that these people should probably be far more successful than they are, and for whatever reason, they haven’t had the same opportunities.’
