Dan Levy is out here keeping the dreams of Schitt’s Creek fans alive, as he’s teased there’s potential for a movie spin-off, as the show picked up a huge seven awards at the Emmys 2020.
Schitt’s Creek ended earlier this year, as it aired its sixth and final season, and the series definitely went out with a bag, with it being of the night’s biggest winners at the annual awards, that took place virtually this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
And giving us all hope that it won’t be the last we see of the Rose family, Dan, who plays David Rose and created the show alongside dad Eugene Levy, told People that he’s open to the idea of making a Schitt’s Creek movie.
He said: ‘Oh my gosh, here’s the thing. Some people have been asking that [about a movie]… if there is an idea that pops into my head and worthy of these wonderful people, it has to be really freaking good at this point.’
‘This is a really nice way of saying goodbye,’ he said of Schitt’s Creek’s award success, before teasing: ‘Fingers crossed that we get a really good idea coming into are heads soon.
‘I would love to work with these beautiful people again. This has been the most incredible experience.’
Fans saw Schitt’s Creek pick up a total of seven Emmy Awards, including the gong for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Dan accepted the award with his dad and co-star Eugene (who stars as Johnny Rose) and used his speech to get political ahead of the US presidential elections.
He said: ‘Oh, boy. Our show at its core is about the transformational effects of love and acceptance. We need it now more than ever before. If you have not registered to vote, please do so, and then go out and vote.
‘That’s the only way we need love and acceptance out there. Dad, do the rest of the fun stuff, sorry for making this political.’
Eugene, meanwhile, thanked son Dan, as he added: ‘I also want to thank once again this young man, who took our fish out of water story about the Rose family and transformed it into a celebration of inclusivity, a castigation of homophobia, and a declaration of the power of love.
‘Thank you, Daniel. Thank you, academy, thank you.’
Schitt’s Creek also won Outstanding writing for a Comedy Series, Eugene picked up Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, while Dan won Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Director for a Comedy.
Catherine O’Hara, who stars as Moira Rose, won Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Annie Murphy (Alexis Rose) picked up Supporting Actress.
