David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) looks set to lose everything as he is forced into selling his beloved family home in Coronation Street following the opening of a sink hole.
When David learns that he is not covered by insurance, he reaches a big decision which divides his family and leaves him in a dilemma.
But when Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) is quick to interject with a solution, what is he really up to? Is this the start of his master plan that threatens to rip apart the community?
Ray tells David they’re welcome to stay at his hotel for as long as they need and he’s happy to recommend a builder. After a fruitless call to the house insurance company, David tells Shona (Julia Goulding) that unless there’s any structural damage to the house, they won’t pay out.
David is pleased when Ray says he can stay at the hotel as long as he likes but his gratitude turns to suspicion when Ray offers to ask a developer mate of his to buy the house off David for full asking price.
Hmmm, how convenient. So what is his game?
A downcast David tells Sally (Sally Dynevor) that after a visit from a structural engineer, it would seem that he’s responsible for the hole in the garden and it’ll cost at least £20k to fix.
When Shona admits how much she enjoyed her night with David, Nina (Mollie Gallagher) urges her to tell him.
Back home, David realises he has no choice but to sell and Sarah (Tina O’Brien) is gutted – and tells him the kids will be too.
Shona calls at No.8 and on Nina’s advice, tells David how much she liked being with him the other night and how she feels ready to move back in with him. Later, Shona calls again and announces that she’d like to move back in as soon as possible. David promises to speak to Aaron and rips up the house sale contract.
But how will Ray respond to this? It’s clear he wants the Platts out – but why?
