Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) is set to cause a huge stir in two major Coronation Street couples – when she tells Kevin Webster (Michael le Vell) that Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) and Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) have been having an affair.
However, she has the wrong end of the stick. After spotting Peter and Abi together in the ginnel, Debbie warns Peter to stay away from Abi or she will tell Carla Connor (Alison King) that he is cheating on her.
Peter is livid – he and Abi had previously had a moment when she was drunk and tried to make a pass at him, something he swerved and was keen not to go any further.
But after Abi is forced to let slip to Debbie what has been going on, she wages war. Later on, Abi reassures Peter that Carla won’t hear about it. That is, until Debbie hears they have been spotted together again.
It’s totally innocent as Peter is giving Abi a lift to an appointment in his capacity as a cab driver but Debbie decides that enough is enough and she drops a bombshell on Kevin.
As he rages to the Rovers to confront Peter, Carla is shocked by what she hears. Abi and Peter explain that nothing happened between them but Kevin is reeling when Abi guiltily admits that she made a silly pass at Peter.
And Carla isn’t appeased either as she accuses Peter of sniffing after someone else now that he is bored following her getting better.
As Peter is aghast by what she has said, the cracks start to form – can they repair the damage? And will Kevin take Abi back?
