Asda releases 5ft rainbow Christmas tree for £50 – but shoppers are completely divided

With rainbows everywhere this year, Asda has released a Christmas tree to fit the theme.

Stripes of colour became the symbol of support for the NHS throughout the coronavirus crisis.

So their tree stands at 5ft tall with colours running from the top to the bottom.

It’ll set you back £50 but don’t rush out yet – it won’t be on sale until next month.

The tree is part of a range of 102 decorations in the Asda Christmas range this year.

But it’s this bright one that has really divided opinion.

A post by the Money Saver Online Facebook page about the tree had over 1,500 comments, with lots of people having something to say on the rainbow look.

Some shoppers loved the idea and were desperate to get their hands on one, while others laughed and said it reminded them of the car wash or a feather duster.

One said: ‘Why does a Christmas Tree have to be green? Why can’t it be a rainbow!? I love it and it’s gonna be in my living room for Christmas, hopefully.’

Another added: ‘Omg that’s amazing I want one.’

But one shopper said: ‘Oh no, this is not a good look. Screams tacky and overpowering…… needs toning down. Very brash and cheap.’

‘Oh my, this photo screams TACKY, it’s making me itch. There’s only one place for that tree and that’s the bin,’ someone else said.

‘This is a reason to cancel Christmas, just awful’ another person said.
