Liverpool have ‘made contact’ with Brazilian club Vasco da Gama over their 18-year-old sensation Talles Magno as they look to beat a string of European sides to his signature.

The teenage forward, who can operate out wide or through the middle, has caught the eye of numerous clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Lille, Bayer Leverkusen, Sevilla and Krasnodar, but Liverpool are looking to make the most convincing argument to the young prospect.

The Reds had registered their interest in Magno back in May and have now made contact with his club to see if a deal can be done this summer, according to Brazilian publication Yahoo Esportes.

The rangy forward has precious little first team experience under his belt but was part of the Brazil team that won the Under-17 World Cup in 2019 and has now scored three goals in six appearances for the Under-19 side.

Considered one of his country’s brightest talents, Vaso da Gama have signed him up to a contract until 2022 with a release clause of £45m.

The contact Liverpool have made with the Brazilian side is believed to be regarding his availability this year and whether they will accept less than that fee, which they are thought to be willing to do.

With Vasco not in the best economic health, hopes are that Magno could be snapped up for as little as £18m, but with so many clubs interested there may be a bidding war over the prospect, driving the price up.

Reports suggest that Benfica made a cheeky offer of just £2.7m for Magno earlier this year in an attempt to snap him up before other clubs got involved in the transfer pursuit, but the offer was firmly rebuffed.
