It wouldn’t be Coronation Street without some sort of problem occurring for the Platt family. They’ve faced a number of different dilemmas over the years which always in the end, resolve themselves one way or another…but when a sinkhole destroys their home in upcoming episodes, will this be the horror that the Platt’s can’t fix?

After Shona (Julia Goulding) puts Lily (Brooke Malonie) in deadly danger, David (Jack P Shepherd) discovers from Nina (Mollie Gallagher) that Shona is planning to leave because she thinks he hates her.

David decides to arrange a BBQ to persuade Shona to stay, and she joins Nina, David, Sarah (Tina O’Brien), Sally (Sally Dynevor) and Lily for the barbecue.

Suddenly there’s an almighty crash and a huge crater appears in the middle of the garden. Everyone gazes into the hole, completely stunned.

Colin the engineer from the water company surveys the hole and breaks the news to David that as a result of the sinkhole, the house is unstable, and he’ll have to find somewhere else to live.

Something so unexpected as a sinkhole is bound to throw anyone off guard, and during the time of a pandemic where repair work can’t be completed as quickly as possible, how will David confront this issue with two children and a wife who can barely remember him?
