Christina Aguilera let go of her inhibitions to embrace the empowering message of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s controversial new single WAP this weekend.
The overly sensual visuals for Cardi and Megan’s first ever collaboration dropped on Friday and features the rappers taking ownership of their bodies while the likes of Kylie Jenner and Normani make cameos.
While some have criticised the music video, Christina, 39, has clearly given it her seal of approval.
In her latest Instagram post, the Ain’t No Other Man singer shared a photo of herself half-submerged in a swimming pool wearing a white t-shirt, sunglasses and a dash of striking red lipstick.
‘#WAP got me feelin some type of way 💦,’ Xtina captioned the snap.
The pop star’s followers loved the fact she showed love for Cardi and Megan’s collaboration, with one commenting: ‘Queen 👑 supporting other queens. Gotta love and respect that.’
Others called for Christina to jump on a remix, including one follower who suggested: ‘I vote for a WAP (Dirrty version) feat. Xtina✨ anyone else?’ and another who agreed: ‘REMIX with you in my Queen.’
Now that would be epic.
If there’s anyone who knows a thing or two about female empowerment, it’s Christina who famously collaborated with Lil Kim, Mya and Pink on the 2001 track Lady Marmalade.
Mya recently hinted that the ladies could reunite next year for the song’s 20th anniversary, telling Metro.co.uk: ‘I’m sure we’ll get together and do something and I’m hoping it’ll be on stage or television, that’d be amazing.’
WAP – which stands for Wet Ass P**sy – has caused a stir over the weekend with some signing a petition to have Kylie Jenner’s cameo edited out of the video.
However, Cardi subtly defended her on Twitter and wrote: ‘I wanna say thank you to every woman that was apart of my video! The fact that you made time in your schedules means alot to me!
‘It was so important to me to include different women, that are different races and come from different backgrounds but are so powerful and influential.’
It’s also come under fire from Tiger King star Carole Baskin, who has criticised the visuals for using big cat imagery.
Rap group City Girls were also caught up in the WAP controversy and were forced to hit back at Cardi B fans who tried to ‘bully’ them for not publicly supporting the music video.
