Britney Spears’ dad Jamie ‘remains in charge of conservatorship’ after court hearing

Britney Spears’ conservatorship is thought to have remained unchanged, following a court hearing on Wednesday.

The Toxic singer’s dad Jamie has been the co-conservator of her estate and finances since 2008, giving him total control over her career decisions.

He was forced to briefly hand over the reins last year to the 38-year-old’s care manager, Jodi Montgomery, when he became ill.

Britney filed papers in Los Angeles Superior Court, asking the court to remove her dad from the conservatorship, fighting for Jodi to be given full control.

TMZ states the court made no immediate changes to the situation, meaning her dad is still managing her affairs.

Insiders told the publication that the conservatorship cannot be changed until Britney’s legal team files certain documents.

It has been claimed the court extended the arrangements until February, 2021.

Jamie was appointed conservator in 2008 after the Baby One More Time star was hospitalised for psychiatric treatment.

TMZ reports that Britney would now like a ‘qualified corporate fiduciary’ to take over her business affairs.

Her lawyer reportedly said in court documents that her client ‘strongly prefers’ to keep the temporary conservator, Jodi, in place instead of her dad.

They also allegedly called for an overhaul to the whole conservatorship in order to accurately reflect her current lifestyle and choices.

In a previous interview with the New York Post, Jamie spoke in favour of the conservatorship, insisting that it’s ‘no one else’s business’.

He also took aim at the #FreeBritney fan movement, branding it ‘a joke’ for seemingly portraying him as a bad father.

‘All these conspiracy theorists don’t know anything. The world don’t have a clue,’ he said. ‘It’s up to the court of California to decide what’s best for my daughter. It’s no one else’s business.’

Jamie added that he ‘loves’ Britney, but the situation is ‘private’.
