Zach Braff and Hilary Duff have led tributes following Broadway actor Nick Cordero’s death.
Nick died aged 41 due to coronavirus complications, with his wife Amanda Kloots confirming the tragic news on Instagram.
He is survived by his wife and their son, Elvis, who was born in June 2019.
Scrubs star Zach was a close friend and he revealed the heartbreaking last message he received which asked him ‘to look out for Nick’s wife and one-year-old son.’
‘Nick Cordero passed at 11:40am today with his wife and mother by his side,’ he began. ‘I have honestly never known a kinder person. But Covid doesn’t care about the purity of your soul, or the goodness in your heart.
‘The last thing he ever texted me was to look out for his wife and one year old son, Elvis. I promise the world they will never want for anything. I feel so incredibly grateful I got to have Nick Cordero enter my life.
‘Rest In Peace. Rest in Power.’
Zach’s partner Florence Pugh also paid tribute and shared a video of him performing on stage last year.
‘It is so shocking and devastating to see one of your own come down as hard as he did,’ she wrote.
‘Over the last few months I’ve wanted to ask myself every day – what can I do to help? But, instead I’ll ask all of you. What can WE do to help?
‘We still can. Help the world by continuing to take this virus seriously. Wear your mask, respect others’ space, clean your hands and please be safe. This is far from over.’
Florence added: ‘Nick, we love you to infinity and beyond. Rest In Peace you beautiful, beautiful man.’
Meanwhile, Hilary shared a text post commending Nick’s wife for her positivity throughout Nick’s ordeal.
‘The strength you have shone for Elvis is a beautiful, selfless quality that is hard to possess,’ she wrote.
Over on Twitter, Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson penned: ‘Incredibly sad news. Can we please do what we need to do as a country to fight this virus together?
‘It doesn’t care how healthy you are. It doesn’t care if you want to go to Fire Island. It doesn’t care if you are tired of wearing a mask. Reign. It. In.’
Lin-Manuel Miranda added: Devastating. What a loss, what a light. Whole heart with Amanda and his family tonight.
Meanwhile, Viola Davies said: ‘RIP Nick Cordero! My condolences to you Amanda who fought and loved so hard….so sorry for his little one. My heart is with you. May flights of angels…..’
Actor Darren Criss tweeted: ‘I’m lucky enough to have never missed a Nick Cordero bway role. I got to see him as Dennis, Cheech, Earl, and Sonny, and I always loved seeing him on stage.
‘For such gruff parts, he was in reality a sweet man, well-loved by his colleagues & certainly by his fam. Sad to hear. RIP.’ (sic).
Nick had been receiving treatment since March after contracting Covid-19 and had suffered numerous complications from the condition, including having his leg amputated as a result of blood clots.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family.
