The Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak was almost lumped with Piers Morgan’s restaurant bill after they dined in the same haunts on Super Saturday.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson opened up the bars and restaurants to Brits over the weekend, seeing thousands of people flock to the streets for a pint.
And it turns out both Piers and Mr Sunak had similar cravings as they managed to book a table at the same restaurant in Chelsea, before the street parties descended.
Talking about his day of social distancing, the Good Morning Britain host explained how he started off the morning with a cup of coffee from his local cafe: ‘I was there at 7am bang on the dot and guess who was the second one through the door in his beanie hat? Gary Barlow from Take That!’
The controversial presenter laughed: ‘He went, “Alright mate,” I went, “Hello mate!”

‘It was like we had come out of some zombie apocalypse movie, then I had my hair cut. It was quite unnerving, I walked in and was greeted by a young lady firing a gun at my head, but actually all of it is an interesting experience.
‘The guy from the cafe had the visors on and gloves. The people in the hairdressers they have their gear on.’
He went on: ‘In the evening, I went out for dinner with Kevin Pietersen, that restaurant is on that side of the road in Chelsea and opposite is another one which is the sister restaurant.
‘Guess who was in there the same night eating with his wife? The Chancellor, Rishi Sunak was in the other restaurant. Honestly!’
Laughing along with his co-host Susanna Reid, the 55-year-old joked: ‘I did toy with the idea of sending him my bill, “while you’re tossing out your billions… come on you can take one for the team,” but I didn’t.’
Turning his attention to those watching from home, Piers explained. ‘Before you all go, “oi, what are you doing? you stinking rich, you said you would send a bill to the Chancellor.”
‘No, relax, it’s a joke. We used to do jokes before the pandemic struck and now we don’t do them because if we do a joke everyone goes completely nuts.
‘The world was nuts before all of this and my god have we gone nuts since it.’
Good Morning Britain continues weekdays at 6am on ITV.
