There UK’s coronavirus death toll stands at 44,391 after another 155 deaths were recorded on Tuesday.

Coronavirus is likely to have brought forward some deaths of older and vulnerable people which could prompt a period of below-average deaths, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has said.

More than 55,000 deaths involving Covid-19 (according to the death certificate – not just where there were confirmed tests) have been recorded in the UK during the outbreak, with the virus the main reason for deaths increasing above what would normally be expected for this period.

Meanwhile, a third of Britons have said they are either unsure or would definitely not use a coronavirus vaccine, a new poll from YouGov, conducted on behalf of the Centre for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) found.

Of the 1,663 people who were questioned, 6% said they would definitely not get vaccinated.

A further 10% said they would ‘probably not’, while another 15% said they did not know, taking the numbers of those who may not get vaccinated against the deadly disease up to almost a third.
