A further 53 people have died after testing positive for coronavirus, bringing the UK death toll to 45,554.
The latest figures, released today by the Government, cover fatalities in all settings, including hospitals, care homes and the wider community.
Meanwhile, people will have to wear face masks in shops, takeaways, and supermarkets in England from today, and those who refuse risk being handed a £100 fine.
Those aged over 11 will need to put a face covering on unless they have a valid reason not to such as a disability or illness.
