While Gary Windass (Mikey North) likes to think that he is the cock of the walk in Coronation Street, Laura Neelan (Kel Allen) is done with his bullyboy threats – and we don’t fancy his chances when it comes to the feisty mum fighting back.
Gary has been trying to keep Laura under his control by weaving lies that he is still in contact with Rick but now that Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) is convinced Gary actually killed the loan shark, he is unnerved.
And Kel reckons that Gary shouldn’t have to worry about Laura going to the police – she would have a different means of revenge in mind for him!
The newcomer told Metro.co.uk: ‘She doesn’t mince her words and she doesn’t suffer fools gladly and basically I feel like she has got no inner monologue, she just says how it is.
‘She comes from such a seedy background herself that dealings with the police are probably trying to get rid of the police. So for her god she’s underground isn’t it, she’s earthy, she’d definitely be bribing Gary, I think she’d bribe the hell out of him to get money, maybe just to buy herself some clothes for party nights and stuff.
‘I would love Laura to be the one who finds him out and uses him for every scrap of money that he’s got in him and for everything that she wants from him.
‘I wouldn’t want her to send him down because I think she’d need him on her side to be able to fund her lifestyle. Most definitely give him a taste of his own medicine.’
And it isn’t just Gary who should watch himself either – as Kel reckons man eater Laura would quite happily snatch Adam from Sarah (Tina O’Brien) given half the chance.
She grinned: ‘I think Laura fancies Adam, he’s a good looking chap isn’t he, it’s hard to have to flirt with him but someone’s got to. I think she’s just drawn to a good looking man.
‘Adam has come along and he’s showing an interest in her, she thinks all her Christmasses have come at once, every bucket list has been ticked with him, this good looking chap is showing all this interest in her. I’m not she thinks there’s a relationship, maybe a good friendship, I think she just wants to jump into bed with him, that’s what she’s about, Laura.
‘She’s got a wandering eye for a handsome looking man and I’d probably say lock up your husbands around Laura, she wouldn’t be bothered if they were married or single, if she wants them, she’d just go for them, get her claws in them.
‘Adam Barlow has got a bit of a naughty background, he’s never been a one woman man and he’s always been a little bit of a player, so can Sarah keep him, can Laura tempt him, who knows.’
As for Kel, she would be quite happy for her feisty character to break up more relationships – as she has set her sights on one that could very much turn fans against Laura!
She cheekily quipped: ‘I think if I was to choose any job for Laura, she would be behind that bar pulling pints, taking tips and popping them in her bra. She’s that kind of girl isn’t she. she’d be swapping numbers with whoever comes through the door, if she knows what’s in the bank account.
‘She’s for the money, she’s for an easy life. so that’s what i love about her. She’s such a character that she’s so far from who I am as a person, that’s why she’s great to play. Icould definitely see her as a barmaid or failing that, I don’t think she’d be too great at sewing knickers or anything but yeah.
‘This could really rock the boat, I know there’s a big fan following, being a fan myself, for Carla and Peter, so i think just to rock that boat and just stir it up a bit, to go for a bit of Peter. She can go around all the Barlows, try them all out!’
Crikey, brace yourself Ken!
