Attention cinephiles – Spike Lee’s new joint Da 5 Bloods is going to hit Netflix very soon.
Lee, who’s recently brought us the likes of the TV adaptation of She’s Gotta Have It and Academy Award-winning film BlacKkKlansman, here directs a cast that includes Black Panther’s Chadwick Boseman along with Delroy Lindo, Clarke Peters, Norm Lewis, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Paul Walter Hauser, Jonathan Majors, Jean Reno, and Giancarlo Esposito.
If that sounds like your kind of party, then you’re in luck, because we’ve got what you need to know about when you can watch the film and what it’s about.
What is Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods about?
Da 5 Bloods juggles different timelines as it follows a group of black soldiers who served in the Vietman war.
During the film, we’ll see scenes with the characters both during the war and after the conflict itself when one of their number is no more and the others have returned to the country which holds so much trauma for them.
The reason for their return? To find the remains of their old friend and leader as well as the fortune in gold they found and lost during their time at war.
The movie is set to drop on Netflix today, 12 June.
Chances are good that the film will land on the streaming platform at 8am UK time, which is midnight in California where Netflix’s head office is.
