It’s safe to say that there’s no love lost between Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) in Emmerdale, but the pair are forced to live under the same roof amid lockdown, and animosity ensues as a result.
Lockdown is particularly tough for Marlon, as he’s having to live without April and Leo — in addition to spending the period in a different house as a result of plumbing issues.
However, matters are complicated when Ellis (Aaron Anthony) invites Al to stay with them amid lockdown, as he’s got nowhere else to go.
Al and Marlon aren’t fans of one another — something which viewers have seen first-hand when Al interfered in Marlon’s marriage to Jessie (Sandra Marvin).
Speaking about how Marlon feels when he discovers what Ellis has done, actor Mark Charnock said: ‘Incandescent with rage!
‘He is astounded that Ellis would think this is okay when he knows what Marlon thinks about Al.
‘He is not a fan of Al at all, Marlon loathes Al most of all. It was Al who broke up his marriage and wrecked his domestic life.
‘Al is the person who would be at the bottom of Marlon’s list to isolate with. He wants Al to get out and Ellis tells him if Al is going, then he has to go.’
Given the animosity between the two, tensions are high, but will a fight ensue?
Will Marlon and Al be able to survive lockdown together without getting into a fight?
One to watch: Wednesday 24 June at 7pm on ITV.
