Adele loves a good binge-watch as much as the rest of us and her latest obsession is new drama I May Destroy You, which she has described as the ‘best thing on British TV’.
The Hello singer has been keeping herself occupied recently with the new BBC One drama, which is written, directed and fronted by actress Michaela Coel.
It follows writer Arabella (Coel) who realises her drink was spiked and that she’s been sexually assaulted. As a result, she ends up reevaluating nigh-on everything about herself and her life.
So yep, gripping stuff and Adele, it seems, has been glued to her screen as she shared in her latest Instagram post: ‘“I May Destroy You” is the best thing I’ve seen on British TV for yeaaaarssss!! Go watch it on iplayer right now.
‘It’s wholesome, uncomfortable, hilarious but terribly sad and then awkward…and then it makes you cough a bit for no reason and also makes you go put the kettle on, for no reason.’
Going on to describe all the emotions she’s felt while watching the series so far, Adele continued: ‘You might pretend you need a pee and then you get a bit itchy, then it makes you ask your girls things you haven’t before. And then makes you want to run out in the street and laugh so hard like mad til you cry for absolute hours! I’ve never felt so many emotions at once!’
She added: ‘Absolutely fantastic 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Michaela Coel bloody SMASHED it 💫 Pro 👏🏻 found.’
Well Adele will have plenty more of I May Destroy You to get stuck into as there are a total of 12 episodes, all released weekly.
It comes after the Someone Like You singer made a rare appearance on Sunday (15 June) to mark the third anniversary of the Grenfell fire tragedy.
After paying tribute to the 72 people who died in the blaze back in 2017, Adele appeared during a virtual YouTube event to honour the disaster.
During the stream, the musician said: ‘Even though it’s so important for us to remember that night, it’s also important for us to reflect on where we are now and celebrate the lives that were lived before they were sadly taken that night.
‘I think that this year, more than ever, there has never been a more appropriate time for us to truly exercise camaraderie, compassion, open-mindedness and persistence.
‘Persistence for answers. Persistence for action.’
I May Destroy You is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
