Rugby player Gareth Thomas’ rhythmic gymnastics performance was a Sport Relief All-Stars high point

The Sport Relief charity is a spin-off of Comic Relief, raising funds through sports-themed events, such as the All-Star Games.

One star of the rugby world – both league and union – Wales’ Gareth Thomas CBE, who in 2019 cycled 500 miles in seven days for the charity, this year competed for the All Stars Blue Team under captain Ellie Simmonds, against Dame Kelly Holmes’ Red Team

After a single training session, Gareth performed a rhythmic gymnastics routine, aired before the excellent closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Monday night.

Watch how he got on.

It was a triumph – or should that be try-umph?

This, from Welsh and British medal-winning gymnast, Laura Halford, says it all.

In case you missed it, Red Team won, but they’re all winners in our eyes.

If you’d like to donate to Sport Relief, you can do that here.
