Mayor marries an alligator

The mayor of a Mexican village has married an alligator. Victor Hugo Sosa, mayor of San Pedro Huamelula in Oaxaca, tied the knot with his bride - who was wearing a wedding dress - in a “colourful ceremony," said the Daily Star. Sosa bent down to seal the ceremony with a kiss. The reptile’s jaw had been tied together to avoid things going badly wrong.

Woman takes 150 driving tests for others

A woman who took around 150 theory and practical tests for other people has been jailed. Inderjeet Kaur, 29, of Carmarthenshire, admitted taking the tests between 2018 and 2020. Swansea Crown Court heard suspicion grew at test centres that Kaur was impersonating other people. Police, who said she was taking tests for people who had difficulty with English, said “frauds such as these pose significant risks to the general public”.

Is it lights out for lullabies?

Traditional lullabies could become a thing of the past as nearly half of millennial parents admit to not knowing the words to any bedtime tunes, said The Times. A survey of 2,000 parents aged between 26 and 41 revealed that just over half (53%) could recite all the words to Baa Baa Black Sheep and just 43% of millennial parents knew the words to Rock a Bye Baby.
