There are certain words that tend to be bandied about a lot when people talk about Boris Johnson. Some aren’t suitable to be shared in polite society, but one that is – unfortunately – is ‘liar’.
The PM has been sacked on at least two occasions because he was caught lying, and he has invented some outrageous nonsense about EU laws and policy for his Telegraph column. The Euro-lies include –
Plans to ban prawn cocktail crisps
Restrictive specifications about the curve of bananas
A rule requiring all coffins to be the same size
So, when Tory ministers are sent out to defend their boss from accusations of being responsible for more porkies than an intensive pig farm, it’s a bit of a tough ask.
Peter Bone crashed and burned.
Bone: PM is wonderful and trustworthy. Anyone who suggests he lied. Is out of order

By a weird coincidence, it was Kay Burley who had to try and keep a straight face when Dominic Raab defended the PM’s honesty – sort of.
Does the buck stop with Boris Johnson on these #partygate fines?

The only way it could ever end well is if it were being played for laughs, instead of being accidentally hilarious. Like this, from the marvellous Rosie Holt –
MP says Boris Johnson always tells the truth pic.twitter.com/t0Oy78YNLB

‘It’s his truth, which is a prime ministerial truth. It’s a limited and specific truth, erm a manufactured truth, but a truthful manufacturing.’
Of course, people loved it.
Rosie speaks for us all. https://t.co/FjkfyTQtQO

This is excellent as usual – we are all living under Johnson's "limited and specific" truth https://t.co/Sdal9jYNZL

The line between a political interview and satire is now virtually non-existent. Brilliant stuff Rosie. https://t.co/IP3Gpp1wTt

It never fails to astound me how much Rosie actually sounds and looks like one of the 2019 intake of Conservative MPs.
It's almost as if the truth was already parodying itself, even before she skilfully wrote the very humourous sketch. Well done. Very funny.

Apart from the people who thought it was real.
I love that people so genuinely believe Rosie Holt's interview sketches, but I wonder if it causes her an existential crisis that she's such a believable Tory MP? https://t.co/sWp60Azk1c

Rosie shared the evidence.

@HarryMbike might just have a point.
I keep wondering at what point Rosie Holt is going to accidentally find herself foreign secretary. https://t.co/qrpZH4aGad

Could she really do a worse job than the current one?
If you don’t already follow her, now’s a good time to fix that – or you could support Rosie here.
