The Queen is 96, which is a big deal for anyone, but when it’s the monarch there’s bound to be extra fuss and tributes. As is traditional, a photo has been released to mark the occasion, and it’s very much in character for the horse-loving Queen.
Ahead of The Queen’s 96th Birthday tomorrow, @windsorhorse have released a new photograph of Her Majesty.
Taken last month in the grounds of Windsor Castle, The Queen is pictured with two of her fell ponies, Bybeck Katie and Bybeck Nightingale.

The Queen, who has been suffering from understandable mobility issues, will spend the day at Sandringham with family – presumably playing musical thrones and eating cake.
