Hilary Duff revealed she is expecting backlash for piercing her baby daughter’s ears.
The actor, 34, gave birth to her third child in March this year, and shared that the tot has now had her ears pierced.
The singer posted an adorable snap of the little one wearing dungarees with the caption: ‘Yes! I pierced her ears today.’
However, the Lizzie McGuire star appeared to be predicting criticism as she added: ‘Can’t wait for the internet to call me a child abuser… again. Lesss go [sic].’
Hilary used the word ‘again’ to reference previous ‘mum shaming’ comments after baby Banks [now three] had her ears pierced at eight months old.
The Younger actress was blasted on social media in 2019 for ‘causing unnecessary pain’ to her child, with some calling it ‘child abuse.’
The matter remains a divisive one, with some believing that piercing a baby’s ears ‘traumatises’ them, while others don’t think it’s an issue.
Hilary later reflected on being trolled for her parenting in an interview with Yahoo! Life, saying: ‘I’m so used to dodging the comments or the judgment, that I don’t realise.
‘Like, you just get a tough skin and you don’t realise how much it actually affects you.
‘I don’t comment on other people’s posts like that, so I don’t understand, but I guess it’s just a need for attention or whatever. It’s hard not to take it personally.’
She said that her initial reaction is to be ‘defensive,’ but then reminds herself ‘that’s not how everyone feels.’
‘That person’s a keyboard gangster who just needs to be heard or seen,’ she added.
Hilary shares Banks and Mae with singer-songwriter Matthew Koma, who she worked with in 2015 on her album Breathe In, Breathe Out.
The former Disney star also shares son Luca – who was born in 2012 – with ex-husband Mike Comrie.
She recently showed off a new ‘Mother’ tattoo on Instagram in honour of her children.
It was announced earlier this year that Hilary will appear in the highly-anticipated How I Met Your Father revival, which also stars Kim Cattrall.
The Hulu project started filming on September 1, and Hilary also serves as a producer.
